One last note on senior dues

We've often been asked about what exactly senior dues buys everyone, and we're getting a lot of questions about why the T-shirts are being sold separately. So once and for all, here's the story: The dues pay for yearbooks, caps and gowns, diploma cases, and the cost of the graduation ceremony. Believe it or not, that actually works out to be about $130 per senior. We could have included T-shirts, but we would have had to charge more than $130 for dues. Also, the website that we are selling the T-shirts through allows us to set the profit margin on each shirt. This allows us to sell the shirts cheaper than if we had bought them from a standard printer (Actually, about $5 per shirt cheaper). It also offers seniors more options if the directly order from the site. We hope that answers any of your questions.

Yearbooks will be distributed June 8 in reverse alphabetical order. See schedule on the senior bulletin board or outside room 121.

Senior Picnic

The senior picnic is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8. Space is limited on the buses, so reserve yourself a spot by talking to either Mr. Riccobono or Susan in room 121. You will also need to pick up a permission slip there. Remember, no one will be allowed on a bus without a permission slip on file.

We will leave Dewey at approximately 9 o'clock and return by 2 o'clock. The picnic will be at a Riis Park by the beach. Picnic tables, basketball courts and bathrooms are close by. At the beach, we will take a group picture of which everyone will receive a copy.

One thing to remember, the picnic will go on RAIN OR SHINE, so check the weather that day.

Well if you haven't received your proofs in the mail yet you should come to room 121 and we will provide you with a telephone number to contact the studio so that they can send you a copy.
On the other hand if you still have your proofs and have not sent them out to the studio please do that ASAP!
If you lost your envelope, buy an envelope that is big enough for your proofs, come to room 121 and we will provide you the mailing address.
If you do not like that way your pictures look and you do not want them published in the yearbook, come to room 121 G-Band and talk to the yearbook staff (ask for Karina).

Something to Think About

You may or may not be aware of this, but Congress passed two laws that gave military recruiters information about young people and allow recruiters to go into the schools so they can try to convince high school students to enter the military. Schools are mandated to provide information about their students unless specifically requested by the student not to do so. It may be entirely too late to tell the school to not share your personal information with military recruiters, but you can get an "opt out" form here. Also, the NYCLU has a FAQ page in case you want more information.
